Pomology

The cultivation of fruit.

Pomology combines improving the economics of growing systems, fine tuning the plant's productive physiology and harvesting and storing fruit to reach the customer in best condition.

Growing Systems

Growing Systems

Growing systems are rapidly evolving. Canopies are becoming more planar (thinner) as we seek higher productivity, uniformity and ease of management. We are actively involved in this development and happy to offer independent advice

Productivity and Physiology

Crop load and canopy management are the key components of orchard productivity. Crop wise, the aim is to determine what fruit numbers each block can grow to preferred market sizes. A healthy and settled canopy is needed to drive fruit growth while allowing uniform light penetration for strong buds and quality fruit.

Our Precision Hort tools enable us to measure both crop and canopy and assist getting to optimal targets easier, sooner and cheaper.

Harvest and Storage

Harvest and Storage

The challenge for existing and new varieties is to harvest at the right stage of maturity so that they will arrive to the customer in optimum condition.

We provide maturity monitoring services and analysis to test all fruit quality parameters throughout the entire fruit handling system.

We offer R&D services to evaluate pre- and post-harvest handling options, so new varieties outturn in best condition.
